Kenneth Cox Construction Referral Marketing Disclosure

This page explains how referrals work here. When you send an enquiry it reaches Ken and his crew first. If your job is a better fit for a specialty trade we do not carry, we will tell you who we are pointing you toward and why.

You also deserve to know when money is involved. If we ever receive a fee, a commission or reciprocal work for sending your project to another company, you get told in plain terms before you commit to anything.

The same applies in reverse, when another business sends your name our way. One thing worth being clear about: the two-year written warranty covers work our own crew performs, not work another company does under its own name.

This Kenneth Cox Construction referral marketing disclosure tells you exactly what happens to your enquiry, including the part where somebody gets paid.

We would rather you read this before you fill in a form than find it out afterward.

The Kenneth Cox Construction referral marketing disclosure

Ken sees your enquiry first. Every project that comes through this website goes to Kenneth Cox Construction before it goes anywhere else, and Ken decides whether we can take it.

Most of the time we take it ourselves. That is the whole point of the company and it is what we would rather be doing.

Sometimes we cannot. The schedule is full, the project sits outside the twenty towns we cover, or it is a trade we do not perform.

If we cannot, we will offer to introduce you to someone who can. You are told at that point, by a person, that Kenneth Cox Construction is not the company doing your project.

Who Receives Payment for a Referral?

If you accept an introduction, your details are passed to a referral service we are affiliated with, which connects homeowners to other contractors.

That service is paid a commission by the contractor who ends up doing your work. You are not charged anything for a referral, and the commission is not added to the price the other contractor quotes you.

We are telling you this because a company that makes money from an introduction should say so plainly, whether or not anyone asks.

Can You Decline a Referral?

Declining an introduction costs you nothing and ends the matter. We will not pass your details on to anybody if you tell us not to.

If you would rather we simply told you when we are free, say that. Sometimes waiting for the right crew is the better answer and we will say so.

What Does Our Referral Not Guarantee?

A referral is an introduction to somebody worth calling. It is not a substitute for checking them out yourself.

  • Kenneth Cox Construction does not verify another contractor's insurance, references or standing on your behalf
  • We do not inspect, supervise, guarantee or warranty work performed by anyone else
  • We are not a party to any agreement you sign with another contractor
  • Our written two-year workmanship warranty covers our own work and nothing else

If a referred contractor does the job, your contract is with them, and any problem with that work is between you and them.

What Should You Check Before Hiring a Contractor?

The same short list applies to whoever you hire, including us.

  • Ask for proof of current insurance and confirm it with the insurer directly
  • Ask for two references from the last twelve months and call them
  • Get the scope, allowances, exclusions and payment schedule in writing
  • Read the warranty and note how long it runs, and what voids it

Maine issues no state credential for general contractors. Anyone claiming to hold one is describing something that does not exist in this state.

Links on this site to manufacturers, trade bodies, state agencies and municipal offices are editorial citations and nobody pays us for them.

We do not publish paid reviews, and we do not present anyone else's ratings or testimonials as our own.
